Be an LA County Fire Department Ocean Lifeguard!

Test date will be Saturday, September 23, 2006

Earn $19.27/hr starting pay

$21.50/hr with EMT

No Prior Training Necessary

Flexible work hours

Choice of Beaches

Lifeguard Academy Training - 10 Days on 5 Consecutive Weekends in April, May, and/or June 2007

Practice Swims at Santa Monica Lifeguard Headquarters: September 9, 10, 16, and 17 (9am)

Who is Eligible

To apply you must have a GED or high school diploma, be 18 years of age by time of orientation (1st Academy will be in April, dates to be announced; 2nd Academy will be in May, dates to be announced), and have a valid California drivers license.

 

Application deadline is Friday, September 1, 2006

What to Do

1) Study the Job Bulletin. Click here to view the Job Bulletin.

2) Complete a 1,000 Meter Swim Certificate (must be signed by a Lifeguard or Swim Coach). Click here for Swim Certificate.

3) Fill out a County of Los Angeles Job Application by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2006 at 5:00pm. Click here for Application.

4) Application and completed swim certificates must be received at the following address by 5:00pm, September 1, 2006:
Los Angeles County Fire Department
Personnel Office
1320 N. Eastern Avenue, Room 221
Los Angeles, CA 90063

5) Attend practice swims (optional) 9am September 9, 10, 16 and 17, 2006 at Santa Monica Lifeguard Headquarters (further instructions will be mailed to applicant).

6) Make sure you're in top swimming condition.
